REMEMBERING ANNIE

Diamond Dogs Rescue does a yearly calendar and Since the day Annie was euthanized, June of 2016,  she has been part of that calendar

EACH YEAR OUR CALENDAR FEATURES A MEMORIAL FOR ANNIE…….

  • THIS IS THE REALITY OF SHELTERS!
  • SHE IS THE FACE THAT HAS HAUNTED ME!
  • SHE IS THE DOG I NEVER MET BUT CRIED FOR!!!

RIP ANNIE I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU!

When I saw Annie posted as needing rescue from a high kill shelter I wanted to take her into Diamond Dogs Rescue….but, we needed fosters. As it was I had four dogs that we pulled and needed foster families for but could not find any so they waited in boarding. I prayed she would be saved cause that precious face just had to tug at someone’s heart strings!

Her face was on my mind all during that sleepless night after I had passed her by because I had no fosters. So, in the morning I just could not help but reach out to get her regardless. I WOULD FIND A WAY.

BUT, when I called the shelter, the person on the phone was CRYING when I asked to take Annie. “It’s too late- she’s gone” they said.

So, I didn’t save her life and her face will always be one that I remember when I think of those who I wished I could have saved.

HER FACE TO ME WILL ALWAYS BE THE SHAME OF OUR SYSTEM THAT EUTHANIZES DOGS WHO ARE SO EASILY DISPOSED OF BY THE HUMANS WHO COMMITTED TO THEM AND FAILED.

IF YOU HAVE EVER CONSIDERED FOSTERING….please think of my Annie and reach out to us at Diamond Dogs Rescue, Inc.
